July 4, 2009: I would like to take this time to wish everyone a wonderful and safe 4th of July. It's been 233 years since the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independance. Please take the opportunity to thank a veteran for serving to keep our great country safe and free. -Adam

Fishing season is still going strong!
Sept 5, 2009: The fishing season is still in full effect! Even though football has started and fall is just around the corner, bass fishing is still going strong. We are reading reports of strong activity in the south and northeast. Be sure to take advantage of the great weather before it is too late!
Also, be sure to check our public calendar as we have updated it to reflect the upcoming BASS Central and Northern events. -Adam
Sept 12, 2009: Last month Forrest and Nina Woods (founders of Ranger Bass Boats) were inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. Mr. and Mrs Woods are only the second couple to ever be enshrined in the hall of fame. Forrest and Nina Woods have done a tremendous amount for bass fishing and freshwater fishing as a whole. Their induction was well deserved. -Adam
Sept 15, 2009: A largemouth bass may have tied the world record! The IGFA (International Game Fish Association) has received documentation to support a claim by Manabu Kurita of Aichi, Japan that he has tied the largemouth bass world record. Mr. Kurita claims that the 22 lbs 4 oz largemouth bass was caught in Lake Biwa, northeast of Kyoto, Japan. If the largemouth bass is indeed 22 lbs 4 oz, the catch will tie the 77 year old record set by George Perry of Jacksonville, Georgia. I wonder if Mr. Kurita was using furry fish baits? (Just a joke, it is reported that Mr. Kurita was using live bait.)
Oct 5, 2009: Since the explosive onset of "wacky worm fishing", we thought it would be interesting to see how our trick worm would react to such a rig. Since our trick worm has tails on both ends, the "wacky" action of a regular worm would certainly be amplified with our trick worm. We will try to rig up a trick worm to see if it will be the large and smallmouth bass killer that we think it will. Stay tuned!
Oct 14, 2009: Rusty Salewske wins the Walmart FLW Series National Guard Division Tournament on the California Delta in Alpine, California. As with most successful fisherman, Salewske credits his tournament win to patience (and the use of a flipping stick). Salewske bagged a 5.5, 7 and 8.11 lbs to take the tournament win.

Nov 9, 2009: The economic downturn/recession has striken the FLW Outdoors Series. Due to the prolonged economic downturn, FLW Outdoors has announced a condensed schedule for 2010. Since most bass fishing anglers are not immune to the current economic woes, FLW has apparently tried to decrease the amount of travel while still providing lakes with sufficent bass. Here's the schedule for the current FLW Tour schedule:
Date Fishery Location
Feb. 10-13 Red River Shreveport, La.
March 3-6 Table Rock Lake Branson, Mo.
March 24-27 Lake Norman Charlotte, N.C.
April 21-24 Ft. Loudoun/Tellico lakes Knoxville, Tenn.
May 26-29 Lake Ouachita Hot Springs, Ark.
June 23-26 Lake Guntersville Huntsville, Ala.
Forrest Wood Cup
Aug. 5-8 Lake Lanier Atlanta, Ga.
The payout continues to be $100,000 per event.
Nov 14, 2009: A special benefit bass tournament is scheduled for Nov. 22 for a fund that has been established for Somer Thompson. For those that may not be aware, Somer is a seven-year-old girl who disappeared on her way home from school and her body was later found in a Georgia landfill. The tournament will begin at "safe light" and weigh-in will start at 3:00 PM at Whitey's Fish Camp.
Dec 6, 2009: As the recession appears to have hit bottom, US Bank and Evinrude have extended their sponsorship of the FLW Tournaments. This is indeed good news for the FLW Tournament, the economy and bass fishing as a whole. Citing the wonderful exposure that the FLW brings, US Bank released a statement stating they are honored to extend their sponsorship for a 7th year. Evinrude, through it's parent company BRP, also cited the exposure that the FLW brings as a primary reason for extending their sponsorship for a 9th year.
Jan 2, 2010: Happy New Year! Now that the hoildays have passed, the true bass fisherman's attention will again turn to what's important, catching fish! It continues to be bitterly cold in most of the country, but there is still some good bass fishing being had in California, Florida, Georgia and parts of Texas. I hope all have made a New Years resolution to be the king of bass for 2010!
Jan 14, 2010: What a challenging couple of weeks throughout the country. Low temperature records were shattered through the south with temperatures in some areas of Florida dipping into the teens. This massive cold front that was created when the jet stream made an unusual dip to the southern states is obviously damaging to any hopes of any significant bass fishing time. However, the forecast for the next couple of weeks call for milder temperatures throughout the south (even though it will be wet) so it would be a good time to try and sneek away to use your favorite bass fishing lure!
